You’ve most likely seen POSSIBLE’s work on TV, or in person. You just never knew who they were.

They’ve created background motion graphics for events like the 2011 Country Music Awards and the MTV VMAs. They’ve worked on graphics for Kanye West, Deadmau5 and Jay-Z. The Target Standard Hotel light show event for New York Fashion Week is another popular project. Music videos, live art installations, large scale events – you name it, they’ve done it.

POSSIBLE contacted me to design a new site with just a few requirements: it needed to show up well on mobile devices, videos needed to be play on any platform, and above all, their work had to do the talking. We found that many companies who do similar type of work were using Flash, oftentimes having interesting content and animation but cumbersome navigation. Though artistic and expressive of their creative abilities, we decided that POSSIBLE’s aim should be ease of use–how can visitors find a video and easily link it to their friends with a unique url? How can they watch all the videos they want without losing their place?

I decided a main area to house the current video while having a thumbnail area of a set height below for easy browsing would be the best solution. That way, users never lose their place on the site and they can browse thumbnails even while a video is playing. In terms of design, the thinner content area makes for a great mobile device experience, displaying more content at once. Most importantly, with Vimeo’s mobile capabilities, each video could easily appear on any smartphone.
